CBD and Driving UK, What You Need to Know

CBD and Driving UK, What You Need to Know

If you’re looking to try cannabidiol (CBD) for the first time, you probably have a lot of questions. One question that comes up a lot is CBD and driving UK. Here’s what you need to know about CBD and driving UK and other factors that may affect whether or not you can operate a vehicle after taking CBD. Let’s start at taking a look at what CBD is.

What is CBD oil?

So what is CBD oil you might ask, CBD oil is a cannabinoid derived from the cannabis plant, specifically the hemp plant. The hemp plant is high in CBD and low in THC. You may have heard of another cannabis plant called Marijuana, this plant is much higher in THC and contains little CBD.

Unlike THC, CBD does not produce a high or intoxication. CBD is quickly becoming legalised across the globe. In the UK it is already part of a big industry and has become a stable supplement to many.

Understand the difference between CBD Oils

CBD can be found as an isolate, broad spectrum or full spectrum. CBD isolate is the purest form of CBD available in the UK. Broad spectrum and full spectrum CBD contains all cannabinoids, this will include trace amounts of THC. Broad spectrum contains far less of those cannabinoids then full spectrum.

Driving after taking CBD oil

It’s important to know that, although CBD oil is derived from the cannabis plant, it does not contain THC, the psychoactive compound that gets you high. Therefore, using CBD oil should not affect your ability to drive. However, everyone metabolises CBD differently, so it’s always best to be on the safe side. If you’re feeling any sort of impairment after taking CBD oil, don’t get behind the wheel. Driving after taking CBD is legal in the UK.

Using high doses of CBD does not impair driving, according to a new study from the University of Sydney in Australia.

According to this study that was publish in the Journal of Psychopharmacology on May 30, 2022, CBD that’s even taken at high dosages, doesn’t “appear to induce feelings of intoxication and is unlikely to impair cognitive function or driving performance.”

CBD and driving UK, is it legal?

It is legal to consume CBD in the UK if it follows regulatory guidelines, such as not exceeding 0.2% THC. In the UK, CBD oil is not considered a controlled substance, so taking it while driving is legal.

Nonetheless, many products marketed as legal CBD oils on the market unfortunately do not live up to these claims. The THC in CBD products is, in fact, a controlled substance, so if you consume large amounts of the product, you may be found to have it  in your system. It is therefore essential that you select a trusted CBD product if you plan to drive while taking CBD.

CBD Oil And Drug Tests In UK 2022

Police may test drivers suspected of being under the influence of drugs under UK law. The drug screening kits test for THC and assess impairment on the spot to assess your driving competency. A blood test is conducted if the tests turn out to be positive. Tests can detect CBD products of lower quality, especially those with high THC concentrations.

When you purchase CBD oil from a trusted, regulated supplier like Provacan, you can be assured that the products follow the strict guidelines.
