New research shows CBD can also power your car! 

 

With the rising cost of energy prices, motorists looking for a healthy low-cost green fuel for their cars could soon turn to cannabis derived CBD oil. Scientists at the Greenfields University campus in Bristol, UK have been investigating the compound infrastructure as a potential carbon free combustible oil rich enough to power the average family saloon.  

 Cannabis healthcare company CiiTECH is the force behind established UK CBD brand Provacan. As a market leader in cannabis innovation, the company is often approached by universities and professors to partner up on specific research projects that help further understand the benefits of Cannabidiol (CBD oil). Sometimes this research looks further than the benefit for human wellbeing. 

 Cannabidiol is a well-known natural anti-inflammatory often sold as a food supplement and used for a range of human benefits including sleep, pain, and anxiety. 

According to Professor Robert Roach, this is the first study of its kind “what we hoped and what we expected to see in this study was a breakthrough in a clean energy source that also has health benefits for the vehicle it powers, we’ve run over 25 concurrent mechanical and biological tests using the last 12 months and have been astounded by the results”  

Initial trials that began on March 31st last year involved 150 motorists accompanied by their respective cars. All vehicles were classified in one of five categories: mini, family, 4×4, performance and motorcycles.  

 In the tests, Prof Roach showed how the UK maximum daily dose of CBD is 70mg, the same dose used improved key performance indicators on over 90% of vehicles tested. The mechanic scientists were able to show that when using 1 litre of CBD oil at a strength of 12% CBD was all that was needed to power a Ford Focus 5 door for 125 kilometres.  The Ford Focus 3-door was able to reach 140 kilometres on the same tank of CBD.  

 The performance cars faired equally well, not just increasing speed and focus by an average of 15%, but also enabled the car to travel for an extended period between refills.  

Clifton Flack, CEO of CiiTECH supplied their science-led CBD brand Provacan for the trials.  According to Flack “when we were first approached with this clinical vehicle study, we thought it was a joke.  The more we got involved in understanding the mechanics of cannabis-derived CBD the more we saw the real potential for CBD to not just save lives, but also save the planet.”
