Top mistakes people make when using CBD before bed.
If you haven’t tried CBD before but have heard how amazing it is for a good night’s sleep then there’s something you should know, according to Cannabis Healthcare company CiiTECH.
In a survey conducted via OnePoll, CiiTECH found that seven in ten adult Brits felt many moments of unease over the last two years. During the pandemic, a combination of fear, lack of routine and stress over-communicating emotions with those closest to us all played a part in affecting our quality of sleep. 51% directly said their sleep had suffered, leaving 41% unable to go about their day to day lives. It’s no wonder CBD started to boom, promoting quality of sleep is a well-known benefit of using CBD but it doesn’t work how you think it would.
When you think of other pills and potions that help sleep you probably think of something that makes you drowsy or induces sleep.
“When people read online about using CBD for sleep they automatically think it works in the same way, altering the state of mind to induce sleep, a bit like recreational Cannabis does with a ‘high’ when you smoke a joint,” says Clifton Flack, CEO, and founder of CiiTECH. “We are knee-deep in this immerging industry and after years of selling Provacan CBD to UK customers, we have received pretty much all the questions you can get from users wanting to understand how it all works. We also often commission surveys to gain a better understanding of our customer’s needs and experiences, the good and the bad.”
There are a few downsides to taking CBD before bed and it’s not a one-stop-shop. You heard it here first from a Cannabis company that sells their own CBD.
When using CBD for bed most people make a few, what seem like logical mistakes.
First off
CBD doesn’t make you high or help you drift off into a ‘drunken’ sleep as weed does. CBD is a cannabinoid found in cannabis and it works in entourage with your own in-built natural cannabinoid system, normally referred to as the endocannabinoid system, to naturally balance and promote the quality of sleep.
The keyword here is ‘quality’.
Have you ever had a decent 8 hours of sleep and woken up feeling like you hardly slept at all. Or had a stressful day and randomly woke up in the night for no reason at all? This is because the balance you feel during the day spills over into your sleep, affecting sleep quality. Sleep is needed so the body and mind rest and restores. You need sleep to regenerate so improving your quality of sleep and making sure you get enough hours of it can make all the difference to how we feel and live our lives.
- Don’t use a high dose of CBD right before bedtime, try it 2 hours before instead.
- Don’t assume that CBD will make you drowsy like a sleeping pill, it won’t, but your quality of sleep will thank you.
- Don’t take it at the same time as prescription medication, if you use medication at night, leave a space of 2 hours.
- Don’t try something new in the evening, always start your CBD journey in the morning so you can see how you go.
- Don’t go for capsules over oils, you’ll get a faster-acting effect and higher bioavailability with CBD oil.
- Don’t worry about eating CBD gummies before bed, they’re delicious and have a long-lasting effect.
